Abbeywood Apartments are a group of 12 self contained, fully furnished apartments in the heart of the city of Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
Newcastle is a geographically beautiful location. The sparkling waters of the city's harbour defy the fact that it is the world’s largest export coal port.
Abbeywood Apartments are located right in the heart of the inner city, central to everything that matters. Darby St, Newcastle's premier international dining, shopping and culture center, is only a leisurely 5 minute walk away. Darby Street boasts the best alfresco dining in Newcastle with over 15 cafes and restaurants sharing its busy pavements. Two of Newcastle's largest nightclubs are located on Darby street, making Darby Street the city's nightlife capital. Close also is the largest regional Art Gallery in Australia, The Newcastle Music Conservatorium, the spectacular City Hall, with its buildings dating back to 1929, and The Civic Theatre for live performances of local and international drama, ballet and contemporary music bands.
Buses and trains to Newcastle University are only 5 minute walk away, or perhaps an energizing 15 minutes by bicycle. The John Hunter Hospital, the largest regional training hospital in NSW, is a short 10 minute drive west of the city.
If you enjoy bush walking, Abbeywood Apartments are close to invigorating nature tracks which traverse through rain forest, sandy beaches and the bell bird forests. Here you can eat your lunch, entertained by a chorus of glorious chiming birds. If bird watching is your interest, the Internationally classified Ramsar Center [in the Shortland Wetland Center 20 minutes west of the city] allows you to watch the roosting birds, who have flown into the wetlands from all around the world - from as far as Siberia in the Northwestern hemisphere. The centre provides Canoeing tours, allowing visitors to enjoy a more intimate view of the wetlands diverse flora and fauna.
