Seeking a getaway with a difference? Go North! NSW’s North Coast is a melting pot of magnificent lakes, mountain ranges, lush hinterland and sparkling beaches, all just waiting to be discovered.
Stretching from the holiday meccas of Port Stephens to Coffs Harbour and inland to the mountain town of Dorrigo, the region’s diversity really does offer something for everyone.

On the coast, adventurers can enjoy scuba diving, sky-diving and rock-climbing – whilst inland the rainforests, lakes and national parks offer more peaceful pursuits such as bushwalking, fishing and camping.

For sheer beauty, it’s hard to go past the 400km of golden beaches – Shoal Bay, Forster, South West Rocks and Nambucca Heads are some of the best known, but there are many more remote coves and inlets scattered along the coast. Or hire a boat and explore the Myall Lakes National Park – this vast, beautiful lake system is definitely one of the region’s best-kept secrets.

Bawley Point is the northern gateway to the Murramarang National Park, which extends from Kioloa in the north to Batemans Bay in the south and protects 11,970 hectares of coastal land. Public parking is provided at Pretty Beach and all park use fees are used for the maintenance and improvement of the park visitor facilities. Several walking tracks are accessible from Pretty Beach. The Durras Mountain Summit walk is 4.5 km (2 hours), Clear Point walk is 6.7 km (3 hrs), Snake Bay walk is 8.9 km (3 hrs 40 mins) and the Pebbly Beach walk is 8.4 km (3 hrs 30 mins).

The Murramarang Aboriginal Area covers 60 hectares between Murramarang and Racecourse Beaches, south of the village of Bawley Point on the south coast of NSW. Murramarang Point is the largest unmounded midden on the NSW south coast with Australian Aboriginal artefacts found in sediments dated to 12,000 years ago. The reserve is bounded by private land on the west and by high water mark on the east.
